For some of us, the path to self-realization is a long and winding road and for others it seems to be a direct route. It is important to remember that even with less obstacles in our path, the journey is just as long.
When I began my personal journey with yoga, there were twists and turns, detours and dead ends. Over time, and with lots of practice, I found that my path became more clear and easy to navigate. Does this mean that my journey had ended? No, in fact, I feel that this is where some of the hardest work began.
I was talking with a friend recently about measuring our words and speaking our truth. I shared how I practice this regularly but still find myself not taking the right measure with my words in certain situations. She then pointed out to me that although I may feel that I over speak at times, if my words are right and true, then maybe that is the right measure for that situation.
We are always learning, growing, becoming more aware of how we perceive ourselves and the world around us. In my life, I find at times that awareness is enough. Being aware when we feel we may have strayed from our path; being aware of our words and how they affect us and those around us; being aware that our journey is long and there is always an opportunity for growth and change.
