With school, homework, activities, sports, and my own course work, I have found myself struggling to get everything done. This past weekend I was feeling overwhelmed by my garden and my canning, unsure of how I was going to get everything I usually do this time of year done while maintaining presence with my family, my self and my life.
In a moment of defeat I turned to my husband and told him that I was giving up canning, it was too much. He turned to me and said, “Just because we don’t have time for it now, doesn’t mean we won’t have time for it in the future.” What relief I felt in those words.
Being present in my life, with my children and husband is what I have time for know, what I need to be mindful of now. We can find presence in all thing that we do when we are mindful not to do too much.
Life is busy. We have responsibilities, jobs, relationships, all of which need our time and efforts but not a the expense of our presence. What is most important now is this moment. Be present in all that you have time for today. The rest can wait for now.
